Andromeda Ring

Autor: Piotr Zieliński

The Andromeda Galaxy is a spiral galaxy located approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth. Its name comes from the constellation:- Andromeda, a place in the Earth's sky where a cloudlike object has been observed.

The first thorough analysis of it was carried out in 964 by the Persian astronomer Abd Al-Rahman Al Sufi. In 1885, a supernova explosion was observed in the Andromeda galaxy. Two years later, Isaac Roberts took the first photos that revealed its spiral structure. Today, the Andromeda Galaxy plays a significant role in the study of the nature of stars and the entire universe.

The design of a bespoke Andromeda ring.

The spiral shape of this galaxy inspired the design of a unique ring. In its central point a 1.50 ct sapphire was set. It is surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds and sapphires symbolizing celestial bodies, set using the pavé technique, in white palladium gold. Falling comets in the form of yellow diamonds are set in the shoulders of the ring. The jewel can be placed on a dressing table or in a showcase thanks to a specially profiled bottom.
